Outdoor Adventure for Everyone

Spring at Deep Creek Lake is an invitation to explore the great outdoors. Families can take advantage of mild weather and visit the area's numerous state parks. 

Hiking, biking, fishing, and kayaking are favorite spring pastimes. 

Guided adventures are available through All Earth Eco Tours. They lead a variety of family-friendly excursions including hikes and nature walks.
Garrett County State Parks

Big Run State Park - Located near Grantsville, this park offers fishing, and boating activities surrounded by the Savage River State Forest. Phone: (301) 895-5453

Casselman River Bridge State Park - This small park in Grantsville is known for its historic stone arch bridge built in 1813 and offers fishing and picnicking spots. Phone: (301) 895-5453

Deep Creek Lake State Park - Situated on the shores of Deep Creek Lake, this park features a range of activities including hiking, biking, and swimming (summer only). There are also three playgrounds along the waterfront. Phone: (301) 387-5563

Herrington Manor State Park - Approximately 5 miles northwest of Oakland, this park offers a 53-acre lake and hiking trails. Phone: (301) 334-9180

New Germany State Park - Known as a "best kept secret," this park, a few miles south of Grantsville, features a 13-acre lake and hiking trails. Phone: (301) 895-5453

Swallow Falls State Park - Located near Oakland, this park includes Maryland's highest free-falling waterfall and offers fishing, hiking, and picnicking. Phone: (301) 334-9180

Wolf Den Run State Park - A newer addition near Kitzmiller, this multi-use park supports activities such as hunting, fishing, biking, and ORV riding (permit required). Phone: (301) 334-9180
