Options for fall fun at Deep Creek Lake are nearly endlesss! Here's a few of our favorites that are not to be missed!

Hiking and Biking: When you stay at Timber Rock Village, miles of state park trails are within a ten-minute drive. Swallow Falls State Park is home to three breathtaking waterfalls that are surrounded by fall color. This is an absolute “must-see” when you are in the Deep Creek Lake area.

Herrington Manor State Park has a fifty-three acre lake and twelve miles of trails. The trail connecting Herrington Manor and Swallow Falls is especially popular with mountain bikers.

Scenic Drives: Take the back roads for some of the best leaf peeping opportunities. Follow the official Fall Foliage Tour or take your own scenic route. You can also check out the foliage while driving the Barn Quilt Trail.

Kayaking: Complimentary kayaks are available to Timber Rock Village guests through mid-October. Reserve one with our concierge and enjoy vibrant foliage as you paddle around the lake.

Explore Small Towns: Deep Creek Lake is surrounded by charming small towns. The streets of Oakland’s historic downtown are lined with antique shops, museums, and unique eateries like 206 Alder Bistro and Bar and The Vagabond Taproom.

Visit Grantsville to see the historic Casselman River Bridge that is adjacent to the Spruce Forest Artisan Village. While you are there, you can grab a bite at the Cornucopia Cafe or Penn Alps.

Bring Your Pup: Choose a dog friendly home and treat your four-legged friend to a Deep Creek Lake vacation! State park restrictions are relaxed during the fall so you can explore trails with your pet. There are two dog parks as well – the Deep Creek Lake Lions Club Dog Park and the Oakland Dog Park.

Get Cozy: If you love crunchy leaves and sweater weather, fall is the best time to visit Deep Creek Lake! You can snuggle up by the fireplace in your vacation rental home or warm up with s’mores at your fire pit on a crisp autumn evening.

Festivals and Events: There are so many ways to celebrate during the fall season! It kicks off early with the Deep Creek Lake Art and Wine Festival held the weekend after Labor Day. Inviting you to grab your lederhosen, Wisp Resort’s Oktoberfest is the first weekend in October. After that comes the main event – the Autumn Glory Festival. This four day extravaganza celebrates the season with parades, craft shows, food, music, and more.
